SUMMARY:Qigong with Jamie Greene
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the ancient Chinese\, mind-body practice of Qigong\, meaning “mastery of your life-force energy.” Qigong\, a simpler form of Tai Chi\, combines gentle movements that mimic nature\, self-applied massage\, breathwork\, and meditation with the goal of improving and maintaining physical and emotional health. This self-care practice has been found to relieve stress and anxiety\, calm the mind\, and may help reduce pain\, improve mobility\, balance\, posture\, strength\, immunity\, and sleep. \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nBeginners are welcome! Pre-registration for this event is encouraged. To register\, email: greene01238@gmail.com\nThis program takes place outdoors\, either beside the French Flower Garden or at the Dell Stage behind the Stable. When you arrive\, check in with the Ticket Booth to confirm the location for each class. Be mindful of the weather and plan accordingly!\nDress comfortably for movement—wear supportive shoes or bring a mat if you prefer to practice barefoot. You may also wish to bring a water bottle and a chair or stool if you’d like the option to practice seated.\nIn the event of rain or inclement weather\, this program may be canceled. Registrants will be notified by email by 9:00 am the day of the program.\nThere may be a short trail walk of 0.5 miles at the start of this program. The Mount’s trails cover a mix of woodchip paths\, grassy areas\, and mostly level woodland trails with some gentle slopes. Surfaces may be uneven\, and participants are advised to be mindful of exposed roots and natural variations underfoot.\nWhile The Mount is a dog-friendly property\, dogs are not permitted in this program.\nQuestions? Email: greene01238@gmail.com; or phone: 413-551-5111 x2\n\n  \n\n  \nJamie Greene\, PhD\, is a graduate of the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. She also holds a certificate from the eCornell T. Colin Campbell Center for Plant-Based Nutrition. Jamie\, a former clinical researcher\, discovered the power of Qigong and nutrition to heal from within during her retirement. She finds great joy volunteering to share the multitude of benefits for the mind\, body\, and spirit of this ancient form of moving meditation with others. Jamie encourages her students to incorporate simple\, effective Qigong techniques into their daily lives to enhance their physical and emotional well-being. She has shared her love of practicing qigong outdoors at The Mount\, the Berkshire Botanical Garden\, her community by Goose Pond in Lee\, as well as at nature preserves in Florida.
