SUMMARY:Wildlife Tracking Hike: Cats and Canines with Mass Audubon
DESCRIPTION:Search for tracks\, scat\, and other signs of the elusive wild cats and dogs that roam the fields and forests at The Mount. Focusing on long-legged creatures\, we will introduce you to concepts that will help you deepen your learning about the habits of these magnificent animals. The techniques we will practice are designed for people who are fairly new to wildlife tracking or have some familiarity with basic tracking concepts. \n\nMeet near the Ticket Booth in the Upper Parking Lot of The Mount.\nPublic restrooms will not be available at this program; please plan accordingly.\nThis program covers up to a mile of trail depending on the amount of tracks we find. Terrain is level or gradually sloping. The trail surface could potentially be uneven or slippery due to snow\, mud or ice. We may travel short distances off-trail\, which could involve walking through deep snow depending on the weather. Traction spikes or snowshoes may be available to borrow on a first-come\, first-served basis.\nDress for the weather and enjoy a morning of winter tracking.\nPre-registered participants will receive an email the day before the program with information on weather and possible trail conditions.\nYour guide will arrive at the meeting spot 15 minutes before your program’s start time to welcome any early arrivals.\n\nRegister for this program on Mass Audubon’s website. \nQuestions?
