SUMMARY:Make-and-Take Arts-and-Crafts!
DESCRIPTION:Kids of all ages are invited to explore their creativity with The Mount’s art educators. In each session\, young artists will experiment with fun mixed-media projects inspired by the theme of the monthly StoryWalk. All skill levels are welcome\, and everyone will leave with a one-of-a-kind creation to take home. All materials are provided—just bring your imagination! \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis program is designed for youth of all ages accompanied by their grown-ups. Thanks to our sponsors\, Make-and-Take programs are free and open to the public; registration is not required.\nCraft programs take place under a tent near the gathering behind The Mount’s Ticket Booth. Participants are encouraged to explore the StoryWalk trail—a wide\, gently sloped woodchip path through the woods. Most strollers can navigate the trail with ease. Please be mindful of the weather and plan accordingly!\nIn the event of poor weather\, Make-and-Take will be moved indoors to the Stable Auditorium. DESCRIPTION:Alien octopus arms! Mystical dragon wings! Retractable robot legs! Giant glowing green eyeballs! Mad scientists!  \nThis workshop with author and illustrator Matt McElligott will unleash your inner creature design studio. Join Matt as he reads from his books and demonstrates some of his favorite illustration techniques. Then\, everyone will get to work creating their own monster-alien-robot masterpieces! Supplies will be provided for all human earthlings who attend.  \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis program is designed for youth ages 8-12\, accompanied by their grown-ups.\nThere is a $5 materials fee for this workshop. We understand that these are challenging times for many families. If you need to have the fee waived\, simply use the discount code YOUTH2026 when registering.\nThis workshop takes place in The Mount’s Stable Auditorium\, an indoor\, climate-controlled venue adjacent to the parking lot. His books have been published around the world in many languages. He is also the co-author and co-lyricist of the musicals Backbeard The Pirate\, Benjamin Franklinstein Lives!\, and Robin: A Sherwood Story. When not writing and illustrating\, Matt is a professor of illustration and design at Russell Sage College in Albany\, NY\, where he has taught for over twenty-five years.

DESCRIPTION:In this immersive series\, poets create new works inspired by selected pieces from Sculpture at The Mount. Walking with WordXWord is a roving poetry reading that invites audiences to “see” The Mount’s woods\, meadows\, and grounds – and the art within it – anew. \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis program meets behind The Mount’s Stable and takes place outdoors\, rain or shine. Please plan accordingly! In the event of extreme weather conditions\, such as excessive heat or severe thunderstorms\, this event will be moved indoors to The Mount’s Stable Auditorium. Please check this event listing for weather-related updates.\nThe Mount’s grounds include a mix of woodchip paths\, dirt roads\, grassy areas\, and mostly level trails with some gentle slopes.
