DESCRIPTION:Bring the whole family to Under the Tent\, a free family concert series featuring lively performances by local folk\, bluegrass\, and kindie rock musicians. With toe-tapping tunes and a festive atmosphere\, these concerts are a fun introduction to a range of musical genres and styles. \nFor Community Day\, The Mount welcomes MISTER G! Ben Gundersheimer is a Latin GRAMMY Award-winning artist\, author\, and educator. Hailed as a “bilingual rock star” by The Washington Post\, he was originally dubbed MISTER G by his young students while pursuing a Master of Education degree. His dynamic\, interactive bilingual performances aim to dissolve borders and foster cross-cultural connections. \nGet ready for a day of music\, stories\, and hands-on fun at The Mount’s second annual multicultural Community Day\, Saturday\, August 9\, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm! \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis performance takes place in The Mount’s Event Tent\, a large-scale\, open-air tent adjacent to the parking lot. Please be mindful of the weather and plan accordingly.\nThis concert is intended for kids of all ages accompanied by their grown-ups. Thanks to our event sponsors\, it is free and open to the public! Registration is not required.\nIn the event of extreme weather—such as excessive heat or severe thunderstorms—this performance will be cancelled. This webpage and The Mount’s homepage will be updated by 9:00 am the day of the performance if a cancellation is necessary.\nSupreme Soft Serve and La Chalupa Y La Enchilada food truck will be serving lunch and sweet treats from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm\, and The Mount’s Terrace Café will be open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.\nSeating for all Mount programs is first-come\, first-served. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a day of music\, stories\, and hands-on fun at The Mount’s second annual multicultural Community Day!  \nThe festivities kick off with a rocking performance by Latin GRAMMY Award–winning\, bilingual kids’ musician MISTER G\, followed by a musical StoryWalk tour reading aloud his new book\, Baby Ballena. Then\, explore the grounds and dive into interactive stations hosted by community partners where you’ll create art\, meet animals\, complete scavenger hunts\, make music\, and tell stories. Visit every station to receive a special prize! Ice cream and food trucks will be on hand to keep everyone nourished. \nThe Mansion self-guided tours are FREE 11 am – 3 pm on Community Day. \nJoin us for a day packed with creativity\, culture\, and joy for all ages! Activities include: a Community Resource Fair; a family concert featuring MISTER G; Afro-Peruvian drumming with SíncoPaz; learning about life in the pond with MassAudubon; free\, self-guided tours of The Mount; baby goats from HomeFarm; a bilingual Children’s Book Swap; and more! \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nCommunity Day takes place throughout the grounds of The Mount\, which covers a mix of woodchip paths\, grassy areas\, dirt roads\, and mostly level woodland trails. Most strollers can navigate The Mount’s grounds with ease. SUMMARY:LitNet Live Storytelling: In Our Own Words
DESCRIPTION:The Literacy Network (LitNet) invites you to an unforgettable evening of live storytelling. Immigrant learners enrolled in LitNet’s English language program have partnered with acclaimed storytelling coach Sheela Clary to craft and perform powerful true stories—stories of courage\, resilience\, humor\, and hope—shared onstage in their own voices. Celebrate the art of storytelling and the strength of our community!  \nA reception will follow the performance. Join us! \nSheela Clary was born and raised in South Berkshire County. She’s a Moth Story Slam winner and Grand Slam participant and organizes storytelling events locally under Shire Stories. She’s the founder of the Village Green News\, a new outlet for local news and opinion that features investigations\, personal essays\, and a community-centric podcast. \nThe Literacy Network has been offering free\, one-on-one tutoring sessions for adults since 1991. LitNet’s flexible\, personalized approach to tutoring enables adult learners to succeed in their jobs\, support their families\, and engage with their local communities. The organization began by teaching reading skills\, and LitNet quickly expanded its curriculum with lessons in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)\, citizenship test preparation\, and adult basic education to better serve the large population of immigrants who live and work in the Berkshires.  \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis program takes place in The Mount’s Stable Auditorium\, a climate-controlled\, 140-seat venue adjacent to the parking lot. Tickets are free\, but capacity is limited—registration is required.\nSeating for all programs at The Mount is first-come\, first-served. If you have seating preferences\, we recommend arriving fifteen minutes early.\nAccessible seating is available.
