DESCRIPTION:Stories\, voices\, and a welcoming café atmosphere—Wharton on Wednesday returns for a five-month run! Join us at the Terrace Café on the first Wednesday of each month\, June through October\, as local actors bring quintessential Edith Wharton short stories to life. Arrive early to enjoy the spectacular view and refreshments from the Café\, open at 4:30 pm. \nIn October\, Ryan Winkles reads His Father’s Son. An artistic\, poetic young man confronts the seemingly prosaic businessman who raised him as a son with evidence that his actual father is a famous violinist. This gently sardonic tale plays with rumors of Wharton’s own illegitimacy. \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis one-hour reading takes place on The Mount’s Terrace under an open-air shade tent. Please be mindful of the weather and plan accordingly! The Terrace is located on the second floor of the Mansion. An elevator is available to assist those with mobility concerns.\nPlease park in the Upper Parking Lot. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to allow time to enjoy the quarter-mile walk down the driveway to the Mansion. Golf carts run throughout the day if you require assistance to the event location. Accessible parking is available in spaces adjacent to the Mansion.\nThe bar at the Terrace Café will be open 4:30 – 5:30 pm.\nIn the event of extreme weather\, such as excessive heat or severe thunderstorms\, this program may be moved indoors to The Mount’s Stable Auditorium. All ticket holders will be notified by email at least two hours before the scheduled start time if a venue change is necessary. Those wishing to cancel their ticket orders will receive full refunds. He has been company member of Shakespeare & Company since 2006 and while there has performed in Shakespeare’s plays Antony and Cleopatra\, As You Like It\, Henry V\, Julius Caesar\, Love’s Labour’s Lost\, Macbeth\, Merry Wives of Windsor\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Othello\, Richard III\, The Tempest\, Twelfth Night\, Two Gentlemen of Verona\, and The Winter’s Tale. Additionally\, Ryan has performed there in many plays not by Shakespeare\, which include Hound of the Baskervilles\, Creditors\, The Learned Ladies\, and Mother Courage.  Regional credits include: Great Barrington Public Theater: The Stones\, Breakwater; WAM Theatre: ROE\, The Old Mezzo; Theater at Woodshill: Hamlet; Gloucester Stage: Mr. Fullerton: Between the Sheets; Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse: Visitors; Commonwealth Stage Company: The Winter’s Tale\, Universe Rushing Apart; the Huntington Theatre Company: Joy and Pandemic. Film/television credits include The Boston Strangler (Hulu) and Time Traveling Bong (Comedy Central). Ryan is a proud member of Actors’ Equity and SAG\, and teaches Stage Violence at Boston University and The Hartt School.

Wharton invited her readers to meet her “halfway among the primeval shadows.” In this program\, we’ll look into the darkness and see what we may see! \nThough we know it’s just a story… Right?! \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis two-hour program consists of a seated presentation in The Mount’s Drawing Room\, followed by a fully-accessible ghost tour of the Mansion. Since 2010\, Robert has led immersive ghost storytelling experiences at historic locations in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts\, including Ventfort Hall\, Edith Wharton’s The Mount\, and Herman Melville’s Arrowhead. He has also given talks and readings for both children and adults at many libraries\, schools\, and cultural centers. Robert has appeared on Syfy’s Ghost Hunters\, Jeff Belanger’s New England Legends series on PBS\, and The Apple Seed show on BYUradio and has been featured in The Boston Globe\, The Berkshire Eagle\, and numerous other media outlets.
