Her poems have appeared in The New Yorker\, The Atlantic\, Poetry\, Agni\, Ploughshares\, Harvard Review\, and The Partisan Review\, among others. She has been a fellow at the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College and a recipient of NEA and Guggenheim fellowships\, and Stanley Kunitz selected Howe for a Lavan Younger Poets Prize from the American Academy of Poets. In 2015\, she received the Academy of American Poets Poetry Fellowship\, and from 2012 to 2014\, she served as the Poet Laureate of New York State.

The program includes an exclusive preview of the Company’s newest work and culminates in two evocative dances set to French songs\, paying tribute to the final chapter of Wharton’s life.  \nA reception with the artists will follow the performance. She began her training at the Richmond Academy of Ballet in Virginia\, continuing her studies at the Royal Canadian School of Ballet\, Emerson College\, and George Washington University. She later pursued her professional development in New York City\, studying with influential artists including Erick Hawkins\, Peter Gennaro\, Maggie Black\, Fred Benjamin\, and Thelma Hill. She came to the Berkshires as part of a Boston University summer program at Tanglewood with the José Limón Dance Company\, and what started as a one-year teaching engagement evolved into permanent residence. She founded the Olga Dunn Dance Company\, a nonprofit professional ensemble that has received multiple Massachusetts Merit Aid awards\, Pass funding approval\, a choreography fellowship from Jacob’s Pillow\, and statewide recognition. In addition to leading her company\, Dunn has served as an Arts Lottery and Massachusetts Cultural Council panelist\, reviewed dance for regional publications\, and taught in the Berkshire Theatre Festival Internship Program.   \nRosa Barnaba began dance classes at an early age with the Olga Dunn School of Dance and in high school performed extensively as a member of the Dunn Junior Co. Rosa continued her love of dance at Springfield College\, where she performed in works by Maureen Shea\, Kodee Van Nort\, Didy Veldman\, and Monica Bill Barnes. After college\, Rosa has continued with the Olga Dunn Dance Co.\, where she nurtures her passion and love for dance.  \nKate Chester received her early dance training from the Olga Dunn School of Dance\, where she also spent time teaching. She holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Cardozo Law School. Kate is an inspiring and longtime member of the Olga Dunn Company\, performing with the group at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival\, Mahawie Performing Arts Center\, Saint James Place\, and more.  \nHope St. Jock received her training with the Olga Dunn School of Dance and then went on to teach and choreograph extensively for the Dunn School. Se has been a member of the Olga Dunn Dance Co. since graduating from high school\, and has performed with the group at the Colonial Theater\, Shakespeare and Co.’s Tina Packer Stage\, Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival\, Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center\, and more. Hope’s choreography has won awards. While Hope also devotes her time to teaching her kindergarten class\, she considers dance to be a continuing force and influence in her life.

Join us! \nCommunity Access to the Arts (CATA) nurtures and celebrates the creativity of people with disabilities through the transformative power of the arts. Since 2005\, participants in CATA’s weekly Writers’ Workshop have explored a wide range of expressive forms—poetry\, haiku\, autobiography\, and short fiction—while developing their unique voices. He has been company member of Shakespeare & Company since 2006 and while there has performed in Shakespeare’s plays Antony and Cleopatra\, As You Like It\, Henry V\, Julius Caesar\, Love’s Labour’s Lost\, Macbeth\, Merry Wives of Windsor\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Othello\, Richard III\, The Tempest\, Twelfth Night\, Two Gentlemen of Verona\, and The Winter’s Tale. Additionally\, Ryan has performed there in many plays not by Shakespeare\, which include Hound of the Baskervilles\, Creditors\, The Learned Ladies\, and Mother Courage.  Regional credits include: Great Barrington Public Theater: The Stones\, Breakwater; WAM Theatre: ROE\, The Old Mezzo; Theater at Woodshill: Hamlet; Gloucester Stage: Mr. Fullerton: Between the Sheets; Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse: Visitors; Commonwealth Stage Company: The Winter’s Tale\, Universe Rushing Apart; the Huntington Theatre Company: Joy and Pandemic. Film/television credits include The Boston Strangler (Hulu) and Time Traveling Bong (Comedy Central). DESCRIPTION:Join Robert Oakes\, author of Ghosts of the Berkshires and long-time ghost tour guide at The Mount\, as he explores Wharton’s ideas on ghosts and ghost stories\, sharing excerpts from her tales that reveal some of their mysterious magic. Following the talk in The Mount’s Drawing Room\, we’ll bring the tales to life as we explore the Mansion by flashlight and hear reports of hauntings at the estate. Wharton invited her readers to meet her “halfway among the primeval shadows.” In this program\, we’ll look into the darkness and see what we may see! \nThough we know it’s just a story… Right?! \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis two-hour program consists of a seated presentation in The Mount’s Drawing Room\, followed by a fully-accessible ghost tour of the Mansion. Seating is first-come\, first-served. If you have seating preferences\, we recommend arriving fifteen minutes early.\nParking for Ghost Tours is in The Mount’s lower lot\, adjacent to the Mansion. DESCRIPTION:Join Robert Oakes\, author of Ghosts of the Berkshires and long-time ghost tour guide at The Mount\, as he explores Wharton’s ideas on ghosts and ghost stories\, sharing excerpts from her tales that reveal some of their mysterious magic. Following the talk in The Mount’s Drawing Room\, we’ll bring the tales to life as we explore the Mansion by flashlight and hear reports of hauntings at the estate. Wharton invited her readers to meet her “halfway among the primeval shadows.” In this program\, we’ll look into the darkness and see what we may see! \nThough we know it’s just a story… Right?! \n  \nIMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: \n\nThis two-hour program consists of a seated presentation in The Mount’s Drawing Room\, followed by a fully-accessible ghost tour of the Mansion. Seating is first-come\, first-served. If you have seating preferences\, we recommend arriving fifteen minutes early.\nParking for Ghost Tours is in The Mount’s lower lot\, adjacent to the Mansion. An attendant will direct you from the Ticket Booth.\nThis tour contains adult content that is not appropriate for young audiences under 12 years old.
