SUMMARY:Tunes for Tots | with Berkshire Music School
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday morning music and movement class introduces children ages 2-5 to a wide array of music from all different genres and origins through an equally wide array of fun\, age-appropriate\, student-oriented activities. Led by Ms. Julia of Berkshire Music School\, Tunes for Tots incorporates instruction in both English and Spanish. \n\nThis program takes place in the Stable Auditorium\, adjacent to the main Upper Lot and ticket booth.\nPre-registration is not required for this program.\nTunes for Tots is a series taking place on Sundays: June 29\, July 27\, and August 24\, 11:00am.\nQuestions? In her role as a faculty member at Berkshire Music School\, Julia teaches a robust all-ages studio of private lessons on guitar\, bass\, and ukulele and also teaches various BMS pay-what-you-wish Community Group Classes including Youth Ukes! and Youth Rock Band. \n\nThe Berkshire Music School\, founded in 1940\, has been serving the greater Berkshire County community for 85 years out of our location at 30 Wendell Ave in Pittsfield. We offer private lessons on any instrument\, Community Group Classes on a pay-what-you-wish basis\, and special programs for people of all ages\, backgrounds\, and experience levels. SUMMARY:Youth Workshop | Right Back At You: A Letter Writing Workshop with Carolyn Mackler
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 15\, 2:30 pm\nAges 8 – 12 \nBestselling author Carolyn Mackler will present her new middle grade novel\, Right Back at You (Scholastic\, 2025) and lead a workshop rooted in the themes of social connection\, community building\, and anti-bullying.  \nRight Back at You is a about two seventh-graders separated by thirty-six years who find a way to write letters to each other\, realize that they are both being bullied at school\, and form an unlikely friendship. Carolyn will lead a letter-writing workshop based on themes in Right Back at You such as forming connections despite differences and combating bullying in your community. Part of a greater program started by Carolyn called The Right Back at You Project\, the goal is to connect children across geographic divides and encourage them to find commonality. Participants are encouraged to bring the address of a friend or relative around their age who lives far away and might be interested in becoming a pen pal. We will provide paper\, pencils\, envelopes\, and stamps!  \nCarolyn Mackler is the acclaimed author of novels for adults\, teens\, and younger readers including\, The Earth\, My Butt\, and Other Big Round Things (A Michael L. Printz Honor Book)\, The Wife App\, Infinite in Between\, Not If I Can Help It\, and Best Friend Next Door. Carolyn’s most recent middle-grade novel\, Right Back at You\, comes out in March 2025. Carolyn’s award-winning books have appeared on bestseller lists and been translated into more than twenty-five languages. DESCRIPTION:Stories & Stretches is an outdoor\, movement-based class designed for kids grades K-5 that blends storytelling and yoga brought to us by Kimberly Kidder\, owner of Flow on Main yoga studio. Participants will engage in coordinated movements\, playful games\, mindful meditations\, and breathing exercises. Stories & Stretches is designed to encourage physical and emotional awareness through fun and engaging experiences.  \nKimberly Kidder completed her Ashtanga vinyasa yoga teacher training in 2016 with Sacred Jade Yoga. With additional certifications in Kids Yoga and Functional Movement\, Kimberly loves working with children and adults. SUMMARY:Storytime at the StoryWalk® with South Berkshire Kids
DESCRIPTION:On the first Tuesday of each month\, join South Berkshire Kids for a read-aloud of the monthly StoryWalk book on display at The Mount. Families will convene at the top of the StoryWalk trail in the new gathering space to listen to the read-aloud\, then can complete a craft activity or explore the trail and grounds of The Mount.  \n\n\n\nThis program will take place in the new gathering space at the top of the StoryWalk trail.\nIn the event of rain or inclement weather\, this program may be moved to the Stable Auditorium.\nPre-registration is not required for this program.\n\n\n\nEach month\, the StoryWalk features a new children’s book.
