In the Footsteps of Edith

July 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

Embark on a reflective journey through the woods, meadows, and grounds of Edith Wharton’s estate. Join Nancy, The Mount’s trail guide, as she leads us In the Footsteps of Edith, a mindful walk that will begin with reading a brief passage of Wharton’s writing—a poem, letter, or excerpt from a work of fiction—to enhance your connection to nature and frame an intention for the experience. Throughout the journey, participants are welcome to share reflections.

IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION:

  • In the Footsteps of Edith is a free program with limited capacity – registration is required.
  • This program meets at The Mount’s Ticket Booth and takes place outdoors, rain or shine. Please plan your apparel and footwear accordingly! In the event of extreme weather conditions, such as excessive heat or severe thunderstorms, In the Footsteps of Edith will be postponed. Registrants will be notified of any changes by email by 8:00 am the day of the program.
  • The 1.5-mile trail walk covers a mix of woodland trails of uneven terrain, bridges, steps, and gentle slopes – perfect for beginning/intermediate hikers. Surfaces may be uneven, and participants are advised to be mindful of exposed roots and natural variations underfoot. Walking poles and closed-toed shoes are advised.
