Boston Globe columnist Meredith Goldstein’s new YA novel, Things That Grow, is a bittersweet comedy about a Massachusetts teen and her New Yorker uncle visiting beautiful gardens to scatter the ashes of their beloved family matriarch. Meredith visited The Mount in 2019 for research. Not only does she include the gardens in her book, but she also based a fictional character on one of The Mount’s tour guides, Marge Cox. Meredith and Marge met online for a conversation about Things that Grow and how art imitates life.
